Day 3 of Nursing Home Week was all about comfort and care—this time, for our incredible staff! We served up a delicious hot lunch and gifted each team member a Havencare bag as a small token of our appreciation. The people who pour so much into others every day deserve to be celebrated—and well fed!

Candy Land came to life at Havencare for Day 2 of Nursing Home Week! Our amazing staff brought the sweetness today with a full spread of chips and candy—because they deserve a little sugar rush for all the heart they put into their work. From gummy bears to chocolate bars, smiles were everywhere. Grateful for the sweetest team in the world!

The "Tapestry of Life" theme serves as a powerful reminder of the relationships that weave our community together. Each resident’s unique story and experiences are like individual threads, contributing to a rich fabric that is enriched by the care, compassion, and dedication of our staff. This week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those connections, highlighting the meaningful interactions that enhance the lives of our residents.

Throughout the week, we will have special celebrations and activities that focus on strengthening our bond with residents. Whether it’s sharing stories, participating in group activities, or simply spending quality time together, every interaction helps to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of one another.

It’s a two for terrific Tuesday (say that 10X fast!) today here at Havencare at Hancock Hall & Havencare at Filosa!

I would like to introduce you to this months well deserved employees of the month!

⭐️Frist, meet Karen! Karen has been in our recreation department at Havencare at Hancock Hall for just over two years. What drew her to our facilities is her passion to connect with the geriatric population and her love of fun & games! Karen has a 94 year old Dad whom she spends a lot of her free time with, and enjoys sharing stories and memories with him. Prior to entering the recreation department, she was a teacher who held the same passion to help others and connect with everyone she meets. Karen absolutely LOVES games, and you can usually find her playing Mahjong and Cansta. With our residents she is gentle, kind, and provides creative and enriching programs!

⭐️ Next, meet Donna. Donna has been in the recration department at Havencare at Filosa for just over two years. Donna’s heartbeat is recration, as she has formal education and training specifically to connect with individuals through activities and creative programing! A fun fact is that both her and her husband are employed in recreation and often collaborate on new and exciting projects! Donna is also a former physical education teacher of 12 years, where she transfered her love of of fitness and education to her students. In her free time you can always find her moving, whether its’s paddle boarding, kayaking, or running marathons, she loves to remain active! With our residents, she keeps the energy flowing and spirits high with her creativity and enthusiasm!

We are so lucky to have a recreation department full of staff members just like Karen and Donna. The work they do is essential to our residents wellbeing, and they bring a smile to their faces every day. We are so thankful for you, Karen & Donna!

‘Helping to heal’, a phrase that drives what we do every day, not only for our current employees but for the future caregivers of the world.

Havencare at Hancock Hall & Havencare at Filosa is so proud to host the next generation of caregivers from various local nursing and CNA progams. This semester, we welcomed students from the Immaculate High School CNA program into our facilities for a hands-on learning experience. These students have shown such incredible drive, compassion, and commitment to becoming the best caregivers to serve our communities.

The feedback we have gotten from our students say it all, with one student who states that when she “started working at at Havencare at Hancock Hall, a Danbury nursing home, she didn’t think she could become more passionate about nursing. But she did”.

Today is the day of the hearts, and while care for the heart surrounds this day, it is also important to take care of the mind, body, and soul.

This week we treated our staff to heart happy, peaceful, healthy, and refreshing yoga sessions. We had a wonderful instructor, Elaina come to the facilities and provide all of us with a chance to relax, unwind, and take care of our mind and body with incredible chair yoga. We learned to breathe through the day, stretch it out, and take a moment for us. It was so refreshing that even our maintenance department and student nurses joined in and couldn’t stop talking about it!

Our staff are the beat of our heart, today and every day. We are so glad to take care of their hearts, mind, and souls! ❤️

Motivation Monday featuring this month’s employee of the month at Havencare at Hancock Hall!

⭐️ I would like to introduce Joe Monty. Joe has been an essential part of our maintenance team for over THIRTY years! Joe is always the first one to help in a time of need and goes beyond the mark every day to make sure our facilities are in tip top shape. You can always find him touching up paint, fixing a door, and even helping recration with resident crafts. He likes to get as involved as possible with our residents and staff, and over the years has built great relationships. In his spare time he likes to fish and relax by the water.

We are so thankful for Joe. It’s employees like him that help make our facilities shine from the inside out

This week Havencare at Hancock Hall has some exciting news!

As you know at Havencare at Hancock Hall we are always striving to provide the best care and services for our residents. To do this we collaborate with many top physicians and heathcare practitioners to further enhance the experience and care for our residents.

With that being said, we are so excited to announce our most recent partnership and collaboration with Comprehensive Rehab Consultants (CRC), a leading physiatry group that specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In partnering with Comprehensive Rehab Consultants we would like to introduce Margaret Cavino, a skilled clinician that will work in partnership with our team to provide guidance and support in our residents rehabilitative services. She will offer invaluable knowledge and insight and tailor her assessments, care plans, and follow-ups to each resident, offering an individual approach to our residents care and rehabilitation needs.

We are looking forward to collaborating with this wonderful group and dynamic clinician to further the top-notch care given to all we serve. Please help me in saying a warm welcome to Margaret and her team, and as always, stay tuned for more exciting updates!
