Giving back doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. It can be as simple as holding the door for someone, sharing a warm smile, or giving a genuine compliment. Think about it—when was the last time you gave someone a real compliment, one that lifted them up?

Today, I had the privilege of presenting a check to Mike Flynn, the CEO of the Boys and Girls Club, from our golf tournament. They were the recipients this year, and the work they’re doing to shape our youth—the future leaders, visionaries, and daymakers of tomorrow—absolutely warms my heart.

I was also honored to be invited onto their advisory council, and I said yes with gratitude. Because it’s not just about writing a check—it’s about showing up for your community, in big ways and in small.

The truth is, there are so many people who rarely get real human connection. A smile, a kind word, a small gesture—it can truly change their entire day.

So I encourage you: be a daymaker. Give the compliment. Start the conversation. Share the smile. Because every little act of kindness adds up to something so much bigger ❤️

Kindness and gratitude shine through everything Erika does. Originally from Ecuador, Erika began her journey in beauty by graduating as a hairdresser before moving to the United States nine years ago to pursue new opportunities in the industry. She continued her education at Vanity Studio Academy in Stamford, proudly earning her Connecticut cosmetology license.

At Dawn’s Pizzazz Artistic Group & Day Spa, Erika brings her talent and warm spirit to every guest she serves. She specializes in manicures, pedicures, smoothing systems, and gorgeous blow-dries, while also playing an important role on our Head Spa team—helping guests relax, rejuvenate, and feel their very best.

Beyond her artistry, Erika is a proud mother of two and someone whose heart is as big as her talent. Her genuine care ensures every guest feels comfortable, valued, and truly at home in her chair.

We’re grateful to have Erika as part of the DPZ family, where her grace, skill, and warmth continue to make a lasting impact every single day.

From a young age, Missy discovered her love for hair while braiding her mother’s and sisters’ hair. What began as a simple joy quickly grew into a lifelong calling, and today she feels grateful every day to have turned that passion into a career.

With years of experience behind the chair, Missy has trained with some of the industry’s leading brands—including L’Oréal, Kérastase, Bumble and bumble, Color Wow, Moroccan Oil, Surface, and Brazilian Blowout. These experiences have shaped not only her technical expertise but also her belief that hairstyling is both a craft and an art.

One of the aspects of her career she treasures most is mentoring younger stylists. Helping them grow in their confidence and skills brings her pride and purpose. As a member of DPZ’s leadership team, Missy plays an active role in nurturing the culture, collaboration, and growth that make DPZ North so special.

Outside the salon, Missy is a devoted wife and mom who adores her fur babies. She’s also deeply involved in community events through the DPZ Group, where she gets to give back and connect with people in meaningful ways.

At the heart of it all, Missy is passionate about people—whether it’s building up her team, serving her community, or making every guest in her chair feel heard, valued, and beautiful. She is truly a foundation member of DPZ North and a cornerstone of the DPZ family.

✨ Spotlight on Lauren – Creativity, Growth & Heart ✨

Meet Lauren, a talented stylist from Torrington, CT, whose love for beauty began at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School. From the start, she was drawn to the artistry of hairdressing, and over the years we’ve had the privilege of watching her skills flourish as part of our DPZ North team.

Lauren LOVES Blondes, highlighting and creating gorgeous color. She also has a passion for formal styling and creating looks for weddings, proms and events.

Her journey at DPZ has been filled with growth, advanced education, and inspiration from industry leaders. Today, Lauren has truly grown into an artist, blending her technical skill with her eye for beauty to give every guest a personalized experience.

Outside the salon, Lauren’s world is filled with adventure and the little joys of life. She loves traveling with family and friends, getting lost in a good book, and, come fall, sipping on her favorite pumpkin chai. And here’s a fun fact—you’ll always notice her working her magic left-handed!

We’re so proud of the stylist Lauren has become and grateful to have her as part of our North team. Her creativity, warmth, and dedication make her an artist to watch and a Daymaker through and through.

In her 50+ years on this Earth, there’s one thing Suzanne has never second-guessed: her unwavering desire to touch lives through the magic of hair. Her journey began in childhood, tagging along with her mom to the salon—where the sights, smells, and sounds sparked her imagination and set her creativity ablaze.

For nearly three decades, Suzanne has been a cornerstone of Dawn’s Pizzazz, pouring her heart, faith, and artistry into every client who sits in her chair.

Suzanne is a master of her craft, with countless hours of advanced training and 29+ years of hands-on experience. But what truly makes her extraordinary is the way she blends the gifts God has given her—spiritually, personally, and professionally—to make every guest feel beautiful, seen, and cared for.

Beyond the salon, Suzanne’s life is just as inspiring. She finds peace at the barn with her horses, joy as a devoted mom to her two fur babies, and strength as a competitive bodybuilder (with plenty of well-earned trophies to prove it!). Fierce in her love for God and those she holds dear, Suzanne brings the same passion and heart to her personal life as she does to every strand of hair she touches.

For Suzanne, it’s never been “just hair.” It’s connection, artistry, and leaving a lasting impact—one guest at a time.

🚨 Back-to-School Lice Alert 🚨

Every year, 6–12 million children in the U.S. get head lice — and cases spike during back-to-school season.

Here’s what parents should know:
✔️ Spread: Lice don’t fly or jump — they spread through head-to-head contact during play, selfies, sports, or sleepovers. Sharing hats or brushes is a less common cause.
✔️ Who’s most at risk: Children ages 3–11, especially girls (2–4x more likely).
✔️ Prevention: Keep long hair tied back, avoid sharing personal items, sanitize brushes in hot water, and check scalps regularly.
✔️ Warning signs: Itching around ears/neck and tiny eggs (nits) stuck to the hair near the scalp.
✔️ Treatment: Over-the-counter lice shampoos, fine-tooth combing on wet hair, and washing or sealing bedding/clothing. If OTC fails, doctors have prescription options.

✨ Fact check: Lice have nothing to do with cleanliness — anyone can get them. What matters is catching them early and treating effectively.
