Almost Home provides a coordinated program of professional and compassionate services for adults in a community-based group setting. Services are designed to provide social and RN managed medical services to adults who need supervised care in a safe place outside the home during the day. Caregivers can benefit from relief of the demanding responsibilities of caregiving. Almost Home is designed to
help adults receive the services they need without the huge expense of a long-term care facility (nursing home/assisted living) or having a stranger in their home. Our program offers the opportunity to establish relationships and connections between those who attend the center ("members"), their families, and those who work at the center. Connections and relationships are essential ingredients to overcoming loneliness and feelings of isolation, which can intensify the impact of disease and disability. Our full-time registered nurse can administer medications, monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, diet, and catch potentially dangerous symptoms before they manifest themselves. Exercise is the best thing you can do for your health, for your brain, for your heart. Members participate daily in a seated exercise program. There are a variety of activities that offer mental stimulation as well as physical activity, from reminiscing, trivia challenges and Bingo to basketball, golf, or parachute play. An art class is offered every week. These group activities offer socialization, the chance to make friends, exchange thoughts and ideas, boost self-esteem and promote a feeling of accomplishment. We offer members assistance with activities of daily living: toileting, grooming, eating. Showers at the center are also available. We have a podiatrist that visits. The center offers breakfast, a nutritious hot lunch and an afternoon snack. We have live entertainment weekly, which gives members the opportunity to sing along or dance. Members may choose to attend several outings monthly, including dining out, duckpin bowling, or shopping. Transportation to and from the center is provided via our wheelchair-equipped vans.
