Winter is now full steam ahead and the cold, accompanied with less daylight, can be so hard on our mental health. However, there are some things we can do to lessen or prevent those winter blues.

1. Exercise- 30 plus minutes of cardiovascular exercise , 5 times per week, is recommended if possible. However, a little exerise per day is better than none, which may still help to keep depression away😊

3 Proper hydration - drink at least 8 cups of water per day.

4. Sleep- try to get 7 plus hours of uninterrupted sleep per night.

5. Light therapy - has been found to help decrease the severity of seasonal affective disorder.

6. Vitamin and mineral supplements - There are several supplememts that can help maintain good health all year long. Speak with your medical professional to determine which supplements are right for you.

And if you need additional support- find a great mental health provider to discuss the option of medication management and/ or counseling to help manage excessive mental health concerns.

The Holidays are here. Not sure how that happened. The holidays can be good and they can be soo hard. During this time don't forget to take care of yourself. Try to get a good nights sleep. Try to continue eating some foods that are good for you while you may enjoy some of the holiday treats. Don't forget to exercise even if you can only work in 5 or 10 minutes a few times per week. Physical and mental health issues can live very comfortably in low energy bodies. So let's try to increase the energy flowing through us so that we don't make it so inviting for those symptoms to pop up or get worse.
