While I concur there is a need for greater transparency to consumers about cannabinoid h**p products that contain intoxicating levels of THC, the amount of “Reefer Madness” contained in this article is maddening!
No legitimate cannabinoid h**p companies are selling or marketing h**p products (intoxicating or otherwise) to children. Various credible studies have shown youth use decreases in states with regulated cannabis industries.
There are however a few bad actors out there (not most, like McConnell ignorantly claims), who have produced intoxicating h**p products that mimic popular brands of chocolate bars, candy, cookies, etc., that are attractive to unsuspecting adults and children. I personally, have spoken out against these type of products from the time I first saw them. Not only are these shameless companies engaging in trademark infringement, they are overtly deceptive and therefore should be illegal. This would be a simple fix that would not require an outright ban.
Bans are legislative ignorance and are an unnecessary infringement upon the liberty of law abiding citizens. Bans are un-American, harm industries, stifle innovation, and are a demonstration that Congress would rather outlaw than try to truly understand and work through the issues.
Remember America, the prohibition of cannabis started with h**p, and never was cannabis (h**p or the other stuff) outlawed because of the presence of cannabinoids (intoxicating or otherwise).
Let me say it again for those of you in the back, CANNABIS WAS NOT OUTLAWED BECAUSE OF CANNABINOIDS!
Every government study that has been done to try and prove the purported harms of cannabis have been fruitless; but yet, here we are.
There is obviously a consumer demand for these cannabinoid products. The people have spoken so why are you not giving them what they want?
I might not be the smartest person in the world, but it seems logical to me that it better serves the public interest to create safe and legal access to these products than to outright ban them.
What’s everyone else think? Are bans effective policy?
Please like and share if you stand with the cannabis brand rooted in freedom.
The Senate Appropriations Committee approved legislation to redefine h**p in an attempt to close a ‘loophole’ from the 2018 Farm Bill.
