“Being ok if it happens and okay if it doesn’t is a very powerful place to be” -kate eckman
READ that again! 📖 I stumbled upon this quote during my postpartum journey dealing with my severe Diastasis Recti ... it was a quote that resonated so deep to me, as I knew there was always a chance that I couldn’t “repair” my Diastasis... there was a chance that my stomach would always look like a “mummy tummy”... 🤱🏼there was a chance that I could get myself to a functional Diastasis but I would never fully close my gap... 🍎 there was a chance that I would have to have surgery to “fix” it 👩‍⚕️ ... and yes, sometimes surgery is needed, but for me, surgery isn't an option due to many different reasons... 🙇🏼‍♀️ so I continued to learn, to educate myself, on the why, how and what... both physically and mentally ... as I continued through my own journey, 🏔 I began to help so many other women on their journeys, to instill empowerment and strength that we all have! 💗 I REDEFINED my core, no it’s not perfect, no it’s not “connected,” but it’s strong 💪🏻 and I worked hard to get my body to function again and so can you! 💥 If you’re ready to REDEFINE YOUR STRONG let’s start together! Let's talk 🗣️ this amazing mom came to me as a last resort after trying various online programs and physical therapy with a severe Diastasis after having two babies 🤰 🤰In 4 weeks together 🗓️ we have made much progress on her core function to help strengthen and rehab the separation from 5+ finger gap | 1st-2nd knuckle deep to 3-4 fingers & fingernail to 1st knuckle deep! 👏🏻 Like I tell all my clients, it's NOT an easy road 🏔️ BUT it is amazing how the you can rehab your core to regain function to do what you LOVE to do! As client K stated, "I can’t believe my measurements afterwards it’s super motivating to keep going. I started the jogging/walking today! It wasnt easy! but I’m feeling confident my core can handle it so that’s half the battle." ❤️

Missy Sullivan is a prenatal prehab and postpartum rehab trainer, as well as a Diastasis Recti & Core Corrective Exercise Coach, and the owner of Core Redefined, LLC. Her programs help prenatal &/or postpartum women bring awareness & either connection or re-connection back to their bodies, through strengthening; breathing techniques and corrective exercises. These techniques target your body as a whole, providing knowledge and understanding on how to correctly align your body to make sure you are evenly spreading pressure loads while working out, doing daily activities or playing with the kids.This is not your "typical fitness program"- Missy will work with you on building a strong foundation, a better connection to your body overall and provide knowledge so you will have a better understanding about reconnecting to your breath, pelvic floor, and deep abdominals to help heal your body from the inside out. Be kind to yourself & honor the space between no longer and not yet 💥 It pi**ed me off that my body wasn’t working, that my path had to be different because I was battling a severe ... but then I trained to crush goals in a strongHER and more capable body! 👏🏻
It is NEVER too late to start - no matter how many years, you can make a difference in regaining a stronger, functional core & pelvic floor!

“Diastasis recti” means your belly sticks out because the space between your left & right belly muscles has widened. You might call it a “pooch.” Thanks WebMD for this definition 🙄 As women, our bodies change physically & emotionally & we are driven by many scare tactics everywhere about our “Postpartum Bodies!” 🤰 Pelvic Floor issues, Cellulite, Mommy Tummy, Stretch Marks, Aches & Pains- the list goes on… but the information to HELP is overwhelming. Where do you start?

My DR started at 4+ fingers- knuckle deep … today I’m still 3 fingers separated! Initially, my goal was to CLOSE THE GAP! 6 years PP & it’s still there 🤷‍♀️ but I realized that finger width isn’t the most important factor … my goal changed to restoring my core thru proper activation, coordination, strength & stability but most importantly, FUNCTION so I could do what I wanted to do! I moved from fear-based training to intentional & progressive loading to restore my core. I get to challenge myself & no exercise seems impossible now! In fact, I have achieved more with my DR than I ever had prior to pregnancy! I don’t see myself as weak or incapable because I have a 3 finger gap between my midline- I just adjust my demands differently instead of avoiding them! Core Rehab is NOT forever, it’s just for NOW… 💥

Diastasis Recti shouldn’t be feared as much as it is. Now, don’t get me wrong, it scared the 💩 out of me in the beginning, not because of the condition itself, it was because I couldn’t do the things I wanted, but also due to the way it made me look. Don’t do crunches or sit ups, don’t lift heavy, don’t do this and/or that…. So, what can I do? 🤷‍♀️ Core Rehab got boring, & expensive, there are only so many heel slides & bird/dogs you can do everyday, before you get completely discouraged, as you see no progress 😔 If you are still doing core rehab exercises months to years down the line, we need to talk 🗣️

It’s BACK!!! 🏃🏼‍♀️ 💪🏻 ❤️ RUNdefined was created a few years back with one goal - get us together, outside and moving!!
Running has so many benefits physically, mentally & emotionally!
My top 5 are:
1. Helps reduce stress
2. Increases cardiovascular health
3. It puts you in control
4. A mood booster!
5. Invigorates your body
Running may not feel natural (or even fun) at first, but getting you started and out there through consistency, accountability & motivation is step 1 👏🏻

How you perform a movement is as important as the movement … 🏋🏼‍♀️ 🔁 Regress to Progress if you are exhibiting ailments or looking to increase strength or ROM 💪🏻 Don’t be afraid to ask for help, to regress or to modify what you are doing, because if the muscle your working isn’t strong enough to do it’s job or mobile enough to move through the necessary range, something else will compensate to achieve the goal- and that continued compensation can eventually result in pain, discomfort, slower results and injury 🤕 Education is key 🔑 no one wants to stop 🛑 what they’re doing, but sometimes it’s important to retrain proper core control & breathing to build up stability, mobility and movement properly. Refining your motor patterns to move more efficiently leads to overall improvement and builds the foundation needed to progress producing better results than simply piling on additional weight or “going through the movements”
