It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved clinician Karen Cotta. Even though she was only with Premier Psychological Services for a few months, she has brought tremendous joy to our practice. We can see the love and care that she has for all of her patients in her eyes, especially the children. She will be truly missed by all of us.

At the current time, we do not have any information on funeral arrangements.

Karen brings her expertise and experience working with families, adults, children, individuals with developmental disabilities, grief, and individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Premier Psychological Services celebrates its one year anniversary, today! On this day, last year, we opened our doors to see clients. It has been an awesome year and we are humbled and grateful for how we have been embraced and supported by the mental health community of Southside Virginia, local and statewide organizations, the residents of Danville-Pittsylvania County, and our neighbors on Ridge Street. We opened this practice to help serve the mental health needs of our community and it has been a pleasure to do our part to serve those in need of help and support. Here's to many more years to come!

This is for everyone who has grieved, is grieving, or anticipates going through the grieving process very soon.

I first ran across this quote when I was a doctoral student at Purdue. I was doing some reading for my dissertation and this quote was on the first page of one of the books. I remember experiencing the power of the optimism and hope that is inherent in this quote. If you are grieving, just know that you will be okay. Take time for yourself and heal.

Premier Psychological Services, LLC has an immediate opening for an experienced Receptionist. The position is part-time, requiring 20-25 hours/week. The ideal candidate excels in multitasking and performing a wide range of front desk responsibilities in an outpatient mental health private practice.

Responsibilities include:
• Collecting and entering patient information into scheduling software (Valant) accurately,
• Faxing psychological reports to physicians and organizations,
• Scheduling patient appointments,
• Checking-in patients,
• Handling monetary transactions (cash, check, and credit cards) securely,
• Organizing and filing patient charts accurately,
• Calling patients as needed for rescheduling or appointment reminders,
• Maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA laws.

The Receptionist must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check. General responsibilities could include providing individual therapy services to a diverse clientele, maintaining timely and accurate progress notes, providing marital and family therapy, and performing psychological testing and assessment.
