When you come for a 5-day intensive (Paso Robles, CA) with Heather at Happy Kids Therapy, it’s more than therapy—it’s an individualized, thoughtful, deeply supportive experience for both you and your child. ❤️

Your child is expertly guided through play and structured moments that stretch them just beyond their current level—building new sounds, new feeding skills, and new motor patterns in a way that feels safe and encouraging. We often see big leaps in skills daily!

And you’re not on the sidelines. From day one through day five, parents are fully integrated into the process. Learning, practicing, and growing alongside their child so that going home feels seamless, not overwhelming. 👏🏼

It’s hard work, but it doesn’t feel heavy. Each day brings new wins, new sounds, new confidence and moments you didn’t think were possible yet. 🙌🏼

There’s something incredibly powerful about five uninterrupted days focused entirely on your child without distractions. Just intentional, supported growth! 🌹

Because when else do you get that kind of time to truly focus, learn about, and watch your child blossom? ✨ Comment “intensive” below to get more information on Heather’s speech intensives! 💙💛

Meet Teah 💛💙
Teah is 10 years old, has Down syndrome, and was recently evaluated for speech clarity and feeding at my office in Paso Robles, CA.

Children with Down syndrome often need extra, specific supports to help them truly connect with their oral and facial muscles. These supports aren’t just about sounds—they help build the strength, balance, coordination, and sensory awareness needed for both speech sound development and syllable development.

For children with differences in muscle tone, strength, and sensation, facial prompting/cueing paired with Oral Sensory-Motor therapy can be a game changer.

It’s a winning combination—and one that is still not offered early or often enough.

This video is incredible because Teah is saying her name and producing a new sound /g/ for the very first time 💫

And it’s also heart-heavy, because if she had access to the right modality of therapy earlier, her speech might look very different today.

We don’t dwell on the past—but as parents, educators, and therapists, it’s important to know that these supports exist and they are life changing.

If you’re on this journey, try connecting with an Oral Sensory-Motor therapist near you or one who is PROMPT-certified.

If local support is hard to find, I’d love to support you.

✨ My next Speech Class supporting the Down syndrome community begins March 2nd.

You can sign up here: www.happykidstherapy.com, through the link in my bio, or simply comment “Speech Class”and we’ll send you the link.

Teah, thank you for showing us what’s possible when the right support meets the right child 💛💙

Jennifer and her beautiful son, Edison, traveled all the way from Michigan to California for a 5-day intensive. ✈️

Edison is an adorable little boy who wasn’t lacking ability—he simply wasn’t progressing at the pace his mom knew was possible.

It quickly became clear that he needed someone to meet him at his imitation level so both of them could feel empowered when working together!

Sadly, a few therapists had even dismissed his case, leaving Jennifer feeling defeated and discouraged from past therapy experiences.

However her intuition was correct! There are wonderful supports out there to be found and we set her up to connect with all of them! 💪🏻

Over those five days, everything shifted, and we were able to identify his oral motor, speech and sensory levels and work within them.

This created a lot of excitement when Edison accessed airflow more easily by learning to blow a horn, bubbles 🫧 and start to say the /h/ sound. He also imitated a couple new words! We worked on chewing, signing and joint attention too!

This intensive wasn’t just for Edison—it was a full-on boot camp for Jennifer too. 💪🏼 We videoed everything. I taught Jennifer each strategy step-by-step, and she practiced them … improving every single time. She’s actually quite a natural 🙌.

By the end of the week, she was confident, empowered, and fully equipped to support her son at home. 👏🏼

Jennifer left with renewed hope, a comprehensive written therapy plan, and referrals to incredible professionals who will support Edison holistically over the next year. I left knowing I’d truly seen Edison enough to make thoughtful, meaningful recommendations—and with my heart a little fuller just by knowing him ❤️.

I already miss them both. They made such a strong impact on my life in such a short time, and I cannot wait to see them both again!!

✨ This is why we do intensives.
✨ This is why parent education matters.
✨ This is why there is always hope.

If you are struggling with hope, speech and / or feeding, I have many options for you! Pls message me with your email and I can send you a list of my services! I have a 6 week speech class that starts March 2nd! Link is in bio! 💙💛

If you have a new talker at home and are hoping to begin speech and sound work, try some of these simple strategies with your child 🤍

This is how you can lovingly elicit speech:

• Focus on just 1–2 sounds at a time for a 3-5 minute activity.  (example, /ee/ or /m/)

• Use silly sounds and playful voices to keep your child engaged.  Gently redirect back to your target sounds. You want to model and make space for your child to say the sound over and over!

• Keep your own speech at the sound and syllable level—simple is powerful!  You can model a whole word “open” - but then break it down to a single elongated vowel like “oh!” when you want them to imitate.

• Don’t be afraid to gently cue your child’s mouth to help guide them into the right placement for the sound.

• Wait and give your child time to process and respond (count to 10!)

• Celebrate your child’s every attempt—big or small to imitate or communicate.  Effort always comes before clarity. 💪🏻

Remember, progress doesn’t come from pressure, it comes from connection, patience, and creativity at your child’s level!✨

Good luck! Please let me know if I can help you to meet your child at their speech level! Come take my free webinar this Thursday through .

For our children with Down syndrome who feel music before they ever find the words 🎶💛

And for the parents who see so much inside their child, but wish the world could hear it more clearly…

This is Sinta.

She has always loved music—rhythm, melody, connection. For three years, she’s been doing the steady, often unseen work of an oral sensory-motor program with her therapist.

Watch her progression.

Watch how the right therapy modality changes everything.

And finally, watch how Speech Class helped her mom connect all the pieces and move forward with clarity and confidence.

There are therapists who can support you in this work.
And if you can’t find one near you, I can help you get started—through private consults, therapy, and parent classes.

Your child has so much inside them.

I’d love to help them reach their greatest potential.

Teaching your child to isolate the tongue from the jaw and build true tongue-tip elevation for the /t, d, n, l/ sounds is a journey—one built on progress over time, not perfection. Every small movement, every attempt, every moment of connection counts. ❤️

We use tools to help children learn to make the proper movements for the sound.

Sharing control of the tools is a necessity, because our goals take time.  When our kids feel success - it motivates them to continue the work.

Playfulness opens doors. When the activity feels like a game, the body relaxes, and new movements suddenly become possible 👅❤️.

✨ Daily practice makes all the difference.

Bravo Luke and his —> incredible mom Jackie for staying the course! So much progress today bc of the work you are doing at home! 🙌
