I keep hearing that freezing weather ❄️❄️❄️is expected to hit the Eastern US in the coming days as “the polar vortex moves.”🧐🤨💭🤔Who really knows?! But—if it does, temps are expected to remain below average for the South East & East Coast through the first half of January. The Gulf & Florida could also experience temps below freezing.
And—Meteorologists are also predicting heavy snow for the Great Lakes & Appalachians, as well as bitter wind chills.🥶
So—how do we prepare?
❄️First—make sure you have a generator in case heat goes out. Plenty of warm blankets & make sure you are stocked up with nourishing food (Now is a good time to can & freeze extra stews & soups. Add oregano oil for immune-boosting)!
❄️Ensure you have resources including flash lights, batteries & non-toxic candles, plenty of wood for fireplaces.
❄️Keep cabinet doors open underneath the sink, so warm air can move through to the pipes. You can leave faucets dripping, ever so slightly so that pipes do not freeze. I also like to use a bath tub liner & fill up with water that we can always filter if needed…
❄️And be sure to have these essential oils on hand for warming…Cedarwood, Copaiba & Cypress are great to be used topically on hands and feet to create a warming sensation and help promote circulation! You can take an old jar and fill it with the unscented doTERRA lotion and several drops of each of these oils. Mix it up and you’ll have it on hand for a nice warming lotion. You can use spicy oils like Ginger (10% off in Jan), Cinnamon & Cassia in hot water & tea to warm you up from the inside out & keep your immunity high.
❄️ Finally, make sure you have water & other necessary emergency supplies in your car just in case you are commuting or traveling when I see weather so you can stay safe: water, snacks, blankets, non-skid boots or hiking shoes, ice scrapers & more… Keep your car gassed up at all times this January! Stay safe out there, friends… and be sure to share these tips with family & friends!!!❄️❄️❄️🙏🙏🙏
