It’s back! (At the request of literally nobody) Dad shirt Fridays! Come in for an adjustment any Friday this summer and marvel at whatever tacky tropical shirt Dr. Blake is wearing! 😂

Not quite a “resolution”, but Dr. Blake completed a long time goal of finishing the 343 mile Sheltowee Trace Trail on the last day of 2023. Does anybody else have any goals for the upcoming year they are excited about?

We want to wish a very Happy Birthday to a very special patient today. Miss Lillie M. is 101 years old today! She has been getting chiropractic care with us since seeing Dr. Elmer True in the 1960’s. We love you Lillie!

(this picture of her with Dr Blake’s oldest son Novah, and is one of our favorites)

Did your resolution survive the season? The reason "WHY".

Every new year lots of patients will talk to me about goals or resolutions they make intending to improve their lives over the coming year. Now that spring is in full swing those goals have either grown into sustainable habits, or been long forgotten. In my experience, the number one reason people quit goals is their "BIG WHY". In other words, "why are you really doing this?" The more a resolution is anchored to something you deeply value, your chance of success goes way up.

Lets look at an example. Lets take two men with type 2 diabetes who have the same weight, blood sugar, and A1C numbers. They both set a goal to improve this by cutting out all soda and refined grains. The first man is doing this because we wants to have the energy, balance, and coordination to dance with his daughter at her wedding (something he has always dreamed of). While the second man sets the goal because his doctor and spouse are "nagging" him, and he knows he "probably should". If we check on these two in six months who is more likely do be more successful?

Shallow reasons for goals never survive adversity. These include vanity, impressing others, or doing something because you "should".
If you actually want to change any aspect of your health or life, dig deep and figure out what means the most to you and tie that to the result of the goal. Not only will you be more motivated during adversity, you will find greater satisfaction in your success.

It's "vertigo season". We always see an increase in vertigo/ dizziness cases in Spring. The fluctuating temperatures and pollen counts are common stresses that can aggravate this condition. It is important to understand other stresses can influence these symptoms as well, such as: posture, inner ear imbalance, blood pressure, hydration, blood sugar, and more. The good news? WE CAN HELP. We have a very high success rate identifying the causes of these symptoms and helping correct them. If you or someone you know is suffering with vertigo/ dizziness, let us know!
