We’re Hiring: Shift Captain (Nights | 7p–7a)!

Ready to lead when minutes matter most? The Danville Life Saving Crew & Danville Area Training Center are looking for a strong, experienced leader to join our team as Shift Captain (Nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.)!

✅ Required education & training:

Virginia EMT-I or EMT-P
Minimum 2 years experience as an ALS provider
NIMS 100, 200, 300 (300 required within 12 months based on availability), 700, 800
MCIM 1 & 2
Vehicle Rescue Operations
TIMS (based on class availability)
Drone Pilot Certification (within 12 months)

Knowledge of DLSC policies/procedures, HIPAA, DLSC training requirements, and WVOEMS Protocols

Five years ago today, we lost our friend Tommy Pruett. And even after all this time, the weight of that loss still sits with us—because people like Tommy don’t just do a job… they leave a mark.

Tommy showed up for others in the moments that mattered most. He served with courage, steadiness, and heart—and he did it with the kind of character you don’t forget. He was the person you wanted beside you when things were hard, and the kind of friend you were grateful to have when things were good.

Today, we honor Tommy’s End of Watch and the legacy he left behind: service, loyalty, and a life lived for something bigger than himself. We keep his memory close—in our stories, in our laughter, and in the way we continue to care for each other and our community.

To Tommy’s family, loved ones, and everyone who carries him in their heart: we remember him with you today.

Rest easy, Tommy. We’ve got it from here.

We *wish* we could hang out 7 Brew Coffee all weekend because wow, did they look like they were having fun— but you know, emergencies. Some of our Crew members stopped by to show some love for Caffeine for a Cause! All proceeds from this weekend will be donated to DLSC! Your need for caffeine literally saves lives, and helps us show up when minutes matter.

DANVILLE… YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!

You showed up for the Crew in a BIG way, just like you have since 1945.

Those final checks came in, and because of you, we officially met (and exceeded!) our goal — and we are now $50,000 closer to a new ambulance at our new Eastside Station.

If you gave, shared, prayed, or cheered us on — thank you. YOU are our hero. We are so, so proud to serve this community--and grateful to be able to show up when you need us.

This is a great opportunity to get your required CE credits!

The Danville Area Training Center will host the 15th Super CE Weekend February 13 - 15, 2026. Over three days, providers will be able to participate in 7 one-hour courses per day to receive continuing education (CE) hours. There will be classes for BLS / ALS in all CE areas.

This Crew didn’t start with fancy equipment or a big budget. It started with neighbors who refused to let their neighbors go without help. It started with “we’ll figure it out,” community grit, and yes… those early days when an old vehicle (a literal bread truck era) helped carry a lifesaving mission forward.

The Danville Life Saving Crew is YOUR crew.
Built by this community. Sustained by this community. Still answering the call today—nearly 15,000 times a year—because you keep believing in “help is on the way” when minutes matter.
