You don't have to strive to become more worthy, more valid, more acceptable, or more loved. You already are all of those things.

“Pilates is gaining the mastery of your mind over the complete control over your body.”
—Joseph Pilates

By combining precise movements with focused breathing, Pilates helps you develop a deep connection between your mind and body. Through this practice, you can enhance your body awareness, improve concentration, and achieve a sense of harmony between your physical and mental well-being. Pilates encourages you to be present in the moment and to cultivate mindfulness as you move through each exercise. With regular practice, Pilates can help you gain greater control over your body, improve strength and flexibility, and ultimately achieve a balanced and integrated mind-body connection.

I can remember the photographer here asking us if we laugh and smile this much during class. And my students were like, “Yes, we do”. He really wanted us to be more serious than how we are in these photos.

I am sure there are times where we are breathing full force, and are focused as all hell and have stone cold serious expressions on. Heck, I know there are times where my students are downright mad at me with angry eyebrows 😠. But for the most part we laugh a lot 😃. There is a lot of joy in our classes of private sessions.

Life is so heavy, and can be so serious. Levity goes a long way. A little laugh goes a long way.

So yah, this is me. This is us. I do try to enjoy myself whatever/ whenever I am doing it. Or else why do it? I love all movement, I love meditation. But laughing is my one of my favorite medicines.

A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
Laughter can: Stimulate many organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain. Activate and relieve your stress response.
In addition to the endorphins people released, studies show that smiling can also help lower blood sugar and blood pressure, reduced stress, boost immune systems, and release natural painkillers and serotonin.

Refining your practice is not a destination, but a continuous process of growth and improvement.

Refining my practice, I have a mindset that there is always more to learn and space to grow. It’s also an exercise of not limiting myself mentally…Trying to stay open.

And if I can self-improve for me, there is more of me for myself and everyone around me.

Plus I don’t like getting bored or feeling stagnant. So I have to refine. My clients have been commenting on the variety of my class, how every class is different. And I say “I try, thank you.”

Below is how I try to refine my practice and actions, I take, to help me stay motivated.

Just sharing incase it’s helps you on your journey or you relate. Would love to hear your thoughts . 🙏🏽❤️

1. Attempt to be a witness to your strengths and weaknesses.

2. Reflect on your experiences, and identify areas where you can grow and develop.

3. Set specific and achievable goals that challenge you and push you beyond your comfort zone.

4. Seek out new learning opportunities, whether through books, courses, certifications or mentorships, to expand your knowledge and skills.

5. Regularly assess progress and adjust your approach as needed.

6. Embrace the journey and watch yourself evolve. ❤️

“2023 Top 10 Pilates History and Physical Culture History Shares

1: Joe Pilates and Nedda Casei with the Bednasium
A personal highlight for me this past year was having the opportunity to purchase the original negatives of this series and gain the rights to sell posters to studios around the world. The authentic images I share from this series are the only ones available that are in the correct orientation (not backwards!).

2: Ted Shawn on the Wunda Chair
This post consisted of this image and others in the same series, and was first discovered through Pilates Source® research.

3: Joe and Clara Pilates Portrait
This is another image from my personal collection of original negatives from the Bednasium series. My favorite part about this is how supportive Joe and Clara appear to have been of each other.

4: Ron Fletcher Teaching Paula Kelly, 1970s
📸 Frances Scavullo

5: Arnold Schwarzenegger Doing the Teaser
Just one word- Iconic!

6: John Travolta Floor Exercises
This was a fun series of images to share! Very pilates-like, these are from the 1980s.

7: Carola Trier and Lo**ta San Miguel with the pilates anatomy posters
This post was part of a series of images showing Carola and Lo**ta together in the 1970s.

8: Joe Pilates at Jacob’s Pillow
A fleeting moment at a historical location

This series showed Arnold taking a ballet lesson to help him learn how to pose better in his competitions

You are of value and valued.
Surround yourself with people who make you feel appreciated. If someone doesn't make you feel valued, it's okay to prioritize your own well-being and walk away from that situation or relationship. You are so worth it.

The train tracks… the path that leads to destinations both physical and metaphorical. They represent the choices we make in life, the decisions that shape our future. But beyond their practical purpose, they can spiritually remind us that life is a continuous journey, with ups and downs, twists and turns. They teach us to have faith in the path we have chosen and to trust in the journey itself, even when the destination seems uncertain. Like the train that follows its tracks, we must stay on our chosen path, knowing that it will lead us to where we are meant to be.

Gaston and I feeling the flow.

This is what happens when you have me watch your fur babies. Sun, fun, flow, long walks, and photo-ops. Gaston is such a camera hog. He loves it.
