Janitor to owner of a cleaning service:
Even my longest time friends and associates don't know that I started working in this business some 27 years ago. As a high school student, I worked 3 nights per week by myself cleaning office buildings in Danville. I learned from the top to bottom.
Note: Top to bottom. Janitors are the silent and unseen workers of office facilities. They are the top of the food chain in the cleaning business. Without them, Janitorial companies would not exist and office buildings would be in tatters. They are the foundation. Just imagine being charged with cleaning a 10,000 square foot office in 4 hours. It take most of us 4 hours to clean our homes.) The job of janitor takes self management, organization and attention to detail in a large surroundings. So I'd ask the next time you see on of these folks working quietly say thank you for their hard work. I can say when this happens they always tell me asap smiling ear to ear. Cheers. Kevin

When receiving a bid for janitorial services we recommend that Property Managers ALWAYS ask the service which method they're utilizing to create the estimate. Our method depends on the property type, cleaning specifications, size and frequency of cleaning. There are 4 primary methods of creating an estimate: Price Per Square Foot, Educated Guess, Standardized Production Rates, and Workloading. We will go into more detail on each method in future posts. Knowing the methods of bidding is important for Property Managers to best understand the maintenance costs for their facility.
