Friends for over 73 years, Sallie and Ruth’s story began at Castlemont High in Oakland. Ruth—the older, wiser “big sister” type—quickly became Sallie’s go-to for advice while they both worked at the Oakland Tribune. After their Tribune days, they kept the bond strong with annual luncheons alongside former colleagues. When Sallie moved to Diablo Lodge a few years ago, Ruth never missed her birthday pajama parties. Now that Ruth has moved in too, the two have been inseparable all over again!
