💚 Mental Health Awareness Month – Real Work Behind the Scenes 💚
A lot of people have noticed I've been quieter lately with daily themes and regular posting, and I wanted to share a little more about why.
Right now I'm deeply involved in peer support training, and the projects we're completing are not just hypothetical classroom assignments.
One of the major projects my team is working on focuses on Kensington in Philadelphia — an area heavily impacted by homelessness, addiction, mental health struggles, poverty, and trauma. Many people there are surviving in tent communities and battling substance use in plain sight, often without enough support or resources available.
Our assignment is to research real resources and support systems that could help individuals in that community:
✨ Food assistance
✨ Housing and shelter programs
✨ Mental health resources
✨ Substance use recovery support
✨ Medical clinics and wellness programs
✨ Community outreach services
The information we gather isn't just staying in a classroom. These projects are being submitted through the Pennsylvania peer support training system and may potentially reach organizations or people working directly with these communities.
That means this work matters.
It has honestly been emotional researching and learning more about the realities many people face every day. But it's also strengthened my passion for advocacy, recovery, peer support, and human connection.
At the same time, another project I'm working on involves sharing parts of my own journey — including overcoming trauma and addiction — and how transformation can happen even after some of life's darkest chapters.
This is why the butterfly has become such a powerful symbol in my life 🦋
✨ Awareness
✨ Learning
✨ Transformation
✨ Growth
Healing is possible. Support matters. People matter.
And behind every statistic is a human being deserving compassion, dignity, understanding, and hope 💜
