Trauma is more than a painful memory or a scary event.
Trauma occurs when the brain and nervous system become overwhelmed and unable to fully process an experience. This can leave the body “stuck” in patterns of hypervigilance, emotional numbness, anxiety, panic, shutdown, sleep disruption, or chronic stress responses.

Many people are surprised to learn that traditional talk therapy alone is not the most effective treatment for trauma — and in some cases, repeatedly retelling traumatic experiences without nervous-system regulation can intensify distress or retraumatization.

Evidence-based trauma interventions focus on helping the brain and body process and resolve trauma safely.

Approved and research-supported modalities include:• Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)• Internal Family Systems (IFS)• Neurostimulation & neurofeedback-based approaches

Healing from trauma is NOT “just talking about it.” It requires intentional intervention to heal the nervous system.
