2026 SRS Outstanding Early Investigator Award - Apply Now!

Make sure to submit your application for the Sleep Research Society's 2026 Outstanding Early Investigator Award!

The Sleep Research Society is now accepting applications for the 2026 Outstanding Early Investigator Award. This award recognizes an outstanding research effort by an early-stage investigator in the field of sleep or circadian research. The basis for evaluation of a candidate is a single, peer-reviewed publication reporting original research (meta-analyses and systematic reviews that make original contributions are eligible, but narrative reviews are not), supported by a senior investigator's letter of recommendation that must address specific elements described below. The candidate must be the first author; and the article must be published or accepted for publication between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.

To be eligible, the candidate must:

* Be the first author of the original, peer-reviewed publication,
* Which must have been published or accepted for publication between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025,
* Be a member, in good standing, with the SRS,
* Hold a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO) and be within 7 years of having obtained such degree, as of the January 18, 2026, deadline. If the applicant has taken time away from research and is thus beyond 7 years of having obtained a terminal degree, then the applicant must provide a description of extenuating circumstances (e.g. clinical training, maternity/paternity leave or care of dependents).

Deadline: Sunday, January 18, 2026.

"I joined the Sleep Research Society in 2022 for the science and stayed for the people. 💙 As a Research Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, I’ve found SRS to be the home where circadian biology, sleep medicine, and data science meet. The mentorship, trainee support, and chances to serve from committee work to Trainee Day have shaped my growth. SRS is a community that advances discovery while uplifting its members, and I’m proud to be part of it." --Dr. Lovemore Kunorozva, SRS Postdoctoral Member, Research Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School
