How Autoimmune Diseases Cause Dry Eye:

Autoimmune diseases cause dry eye by attacking the body’s own tear-producing glands—specifically the lacrimal glands and sometimes the meibomian glands. This leads to inflammation, which reduces both tear production and tear quality.
As a result, the eyes don’t get enough moisture or lubrication, leading to symptoms like burning, redness, gritty sensation, and blurry vision. Raise your hand if you ever experienced dry eye symptoms. I’ll go first.
