In 2013 More Magazine and the Verizon Foundation did a nationwide survey of 1005 women over age 21 to better understand the connection between domestic violence and chronic illness.
#4 of the important findings was: ABUSED WOMEN SUFFER FROM MULTIPLE CHRONIC CONDITIONS.
Women who said that they have experienced abuse have more chronic health conditions (2.7 conditions per person) than women who said they haven't (1.7 conditions per person).

In 2013 More Magazine and the Verizon Foundation did a nationwide survey of 1005 women over age 21 to better understand the connection between domestic violence and chronic illness.
#3 of the important findings was: ABUSED WOMEN ARE MORE LIKELY TO SUFFER FROM CHRONIC ILLNESS. 81% of women who said that they have experienced abuse have a chronic illness versus 62% of women who said that they have never experienced abuse.

#2 of the important findings was: CHRONIC CONDITIONS ARE EPIDEMIC. 70% of respondents reported having a chronic condition, including lower back pain (26%), high blood pressure (26%), migraines and chronic headaches (24%), or difficulty sleeping (23%).

One of the important findings was: An alarming 44 percent of women said that they have experienced abusive behavior from a partner. The categories break down like this: emotional abuse (38% of respondents), physical abuse (25%), s*xual abuse (18%) and economic abuse (16%). Specific examples include shoving (21%), intimidation by looks, actions or gestures (21%), hitting (17%), slapping (16%), choking (11%), withholding access to money (10%), and being forced to have s*x (10%).
