Two years ago, I had to put a lot of thought into what I was going to wear. This photo is a case in point. The “before” picture I think I sent it to my daughter to see what she thought of my outfit.

It was during the time where I always had to try clothes on before I went out because I never knew what was going to fit me.

During menopause, in a matter of months, I put on a tremendous amount of weight and I didn’t fit in most things I owned. The outfit I’m wearing is from a rental called Nuuly where you can rent clothes on a monthly basis. Nuuly worked really well when I was trying to lose weight because I didn’t have to buy new clothes. I could rent them in larger sizes. The picture on the right is me just this afternoon. I’m wearing what I’m wearing - which is nothing great - but what a difference to not have to worry about what I’m putting on my body or give it much thought because everything fits! Everything feels good. It’s just so nice to be 20 pounds down and back in my clothes!

This photo was taken 2 years ago, August 2023, in California. I cringed when I saw it. I could not believe how I looked.

I returned home to Connecticut and weighed myself - something I had been avoiding for a while. I was up 20 pounds! I was horrified.

I tried many things to lose weight over the next four months but I’d go down one pound and up two. I was eating like 1200 calories, working out and unable to lose weight. I felt so defeated. 😞

If you feel similarly, I am your hype girl. 🎉
I’ve learned A LOT in two years and definitely look better at 56 than I did at 54.

Too many women hear these phrases when they seek help for menopause symptoms—from brain fog and fatigue to anxiety, hot flashes, and heart palpitations.

This is medical gaslighting—when a doctor downplays, dismisses, or ignores your symptoms. And it happens far too often to women in midlife.

👉 Menopause is real. The symptoms are real. And your experience deserves respect and proper care.
