This photo was taken 2 years ago, August 2023, in California. I cringed when I saw it. I could not believe how I looked.

I returned home to Connecticut and weighed myself - something I had been avoiding for a while. I was up 20 pounds! I was horrified.

I tried many things to lose weight over the next four months but I’d go down one pound and up two. I was eating like 1200 calories, working out and unable to lose weight. I felt so defeated. 😞

If you feel similarly, I am your hype girl. 🎉
I’ve learned A LOT in two years and definitely look better at 56 than I did at 54.

Too many women hear these phrases when they seek help for menopause symptoms—from brain fog and fatigue to anxiety, hot flashes, and heart palpitations.

This is medical gaslighting—when a doctor downplays, dismisses, or ignores your symptoms. And it happens far too often to women in midlife.

👉 Menopause is real. The symptoms are real. And your experience deserves respect and proper care.

📢 It’s time we call this out. Women shouldn’t have to fight to be believed by the very people meant to care for them.

I saw this on ‘s Instagram and I thought it was a FANTASTIC question! Here is a sampling of my unhinged moments:
⚠️ Eight years ago, I called a friend who traveled a lot for business because I was desperate to solve my “crime scene” period and I needed to fly to Chicago. She advised me to use two super plus playtex tampons, a pad, wear black pants and hope for the best. That protocol became my M.O. for the next couple of years. IYKYK. (Progesterone probably would have been a godsend for me but I had no idea of that option).
⚠️ I became terrified to drive over bridges by myself during the same time frame. My father used to to join me to pick up my son from school. Again, progesterone would have probably helped. Anxiety spikes are a direct result of chaotic estrogen in perimenopause.😜
⚠️ My current obsession is using vaginal estrogen on my face. Yup, research has shown that topical estriol can help maintain skin health by increasing collagen production, retaining and restoring skin moisture, increasing skin firmness and elasticity, and decreasing pore size and wrinkle depth.🎉

Oh man, what a difference HRT made for me!

Cardio will not do it. I see you at the gym sweating and working HARD on the treadmills and ellipticals. And, that’s great for your heart, but if you don’t lift, your body composition will not change after menopause.

Strength training is your metabolic gold mine. You’ll build muscle and burn more fat at rest. AT REST!!!!
