Why Mallard Mental Wellness?

In August, we lost my precious nephew, Royce — a loyal, loving, and friendly soul who loved the outdoors. The mallard symbolizes resilience, adaptability, and calm… the perfect tribute to him.

In the midst of grief, we’ve also seen blessings unfold.

Mallard Mental Wellness (formerly Crescent Counseling Center) is a small, private mental health practice located in Darlington, SC. We are committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based services within a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment. We provide care to a diverse population of children, adolescents, adults, and families, while prioritizing the well-being and professional sustainability of both our clients and our clinicians.
We are currently seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) to join our clinical team.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, client-centered, and motivated to support individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges. This role offers professional autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to develop clinically within a supportive and collegial practice. Required supervision for LPCA licensure is provided at no cost for the duration of the contract.

This is an independent contractor position. Reimbursement rates are commensurate with experience, with opportunities for incremental increases based on performance. Contractors are expected to maintain a minimum caseload of 10–20 hours per week, with the option to work additional hours. Clinical services may be scheduled Monday through Saturday.

We’re excited to share that our practice is undergoing a small—but meaningful—change. To better represent who we are and ensure our name reflects our mission clearly and uniquely, we will officially be known as Mallard Mental Wellness beginning January 1st, TODAY!

While reviewing our branding, we learned that our previous name was similar to another organization’s. Out of respect for that business—and to keep our own brand as strong and distinct as possible—we chose to update our name. This change is purely administrative and does not affect our services, providers, or the care you receive.
