Grantee Spotlight: ASWAS, Inc. (A System Within a System)

RDA supported the grant "Empowering Youth Through Expert-Led Workshops at the 2025 Summit", expanding access to life skills education and mentorship for local youth. Through workshops and the annual summit, students engaged in topics like financial literacy, education, health and wellness, and navigating the legal system—gaining practical knowledge critical for adulthood. Exposure to nationally recognized speakers and interactive sessions helped students explore new possibilities, build confidence, and strengthen decision-making skills. By partnering with local schools and tailoring programming based on student feedback, ASWAS is helping equip youth with the tools needed for long-term success and economic mobility.

🚨 2025 ASWAS Youth Summit Recap!!
ASWAS Inc. was honored to partner with the Davenport Community School District to host the 2025 ASWAS Youth Summit, bringing together students, educators, and community leaders for a powerful day of learning, leadership, and inspiration.
During the summit, students were introduced to the ASWAS 6-System Series, helping them explore real-world systems that shape their communities and future opportunities. From education and financial literacy to health and leadership, the event encouraged youth to think bigger about their goals and the impact they can make.
We are incredibly grateful to the Davenport Community School District, our speakers, volunteers, and the students who made this event such a success.

We are honored to welcome Dr. DeLacy Davis to the ASWAS Summit 2025! 🎤✨

Dr. Davis is the founder of Black Cops Against Police Brutality, established in 1991, and the author of Black Cops Against Police Brutality: A Crisis Action Plan. His groundbreaking work has given voice to urgent conversations on justice, accountability, and community empowerment.

Most recently, Dr. Davis earned his doctoral degree, where he examined the critical factors surrounding police officers shooting unarmed Black males — work that continues to shape advocacy and reform nationwide.
