I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, GGS Certified Pre/Postnatal Fitness Coach, GGS Women's Coaching Specialist, and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I help clients feel better by focusing on their individual needs and goals by educating on how to develop realistic healthy lifestyle habits relating to food, fitness, and overall wellness. With me, I like to keep it simple by focusing on basic fitness and food practices, provide healthy recipes that are made with healthier ingredients (and still taste amazing!) and promote self care practices that help you feel at your best. Your first meal of the day matters! Whether it’s at 7am or 11am, how you break an overnight fast requires intention if you want to continue the healing effect an overnight (12 hr) fast can do for the body. Oatmeal or overnight oats are common breakfast staples, which is fine! However, it’s highly recommended to have a protein and healthy fat prior to carbs to lessen the glucose response, especially if you are trying to remain insulin sensitive. Insulin sensitivity lessens overtime as we age, so be mindful about food order at your meals if you want to support a healthy insulin response to food. Add some eggs and avocado at your first meal, eating that first, then enjoy that oatmeal as your carb finisher, and (spoiler alert) you can even stir in some protein and collagen into your oatmeal for an added nutrition boost!

Happy New Year! As you continue working on your health goals or create new ones, remember to keep the goals simple, and take those small consistent steps each day to support that goal.

Setbacks will happen, but that makes us human. Consistency is key. Missing a day or two wont knock you off track, just wake up the next day and start again!

Most of our food has been pasteurized, irradiated, or chemically treated to kill bugs – but this also kills the good stuff.

Our soil is depleted of good bacteria with the overuse of synthetic pesticides and other chemical contamination.

In our over-sanitized modern world, most of us aren’t exposed to very much good bacteria, and this can be a problem.

Making matters worse, processed foods are stripped of nutrients and fiber, flavored with fake flavors, sweetened with white sugar or artificial sweeteners (which are known to alter good bacteria).

Beginning in 2026 I will be offering small group fitness classes!

Classes will include:

-Move With Confidence: Your Prenatal Fitness Beginning (best for all trimesters of pregnancy)

-Postpartum Fitness 101: Where to Begin (best for those immediately postpartum or reincorporating movement after a long break after giving birth)

-Fit for Life: Functional Strength Training (best for those w/ no contraindications and are generally healthy)

- Fitness Foundations: Start Strong, Start Simple (best for those newer to exercise or want a slower paced reintroduction to fitness)

For the entire month of January, I will be offering FREE group fitness classes to all, so we can fill the classes up! After that, each group fitness class is $15, for which you pay when you sign up to reserve your spot!

The best thing you can do for your brain health is…...

Physical activity!

In just 5 minutes, you can improve your brain function, boosting cognitive performance. It can also enhance processing speed, executive function, and working memory - ever walked into a room and forgot why you walked in there? That’s your working memory trying to do it’s job!

Five minutes was enough to reap these benefits. Don’t think you have time to exercise? Everyone’s got 5 minutes. Fit in some exercise snacks throughout the day, 5 minutes is all you need!

-Jumping Jacks
-Bodyweight Squats
-Climb some stairs
-Perform some step ups
-Pushups
-Walk at a brisk pace for 5 minutes

The list goes on and on. Find a form of exercise you like and perform it at moderate to high intense levels for 5 minutes throughout the day and reap the benefits!

Some items you’ll find in my fridge/pantry!

The best part is that the peanut butter doesn’t require refrigeration, which most healthy peanut butters do, resulting in hard peanut butter and having to wait for it to soften a bit before using.

Chia smash is my new favorite spread for my guilty pleasure (toasted peanut butter and jelly)

Coconut kefir has been hard to come by until now! Fresh Thyme in Davenport has this now, so if you’re focusing on dairy free and want a good boost of probiotics, check out Kefirkult!

And finally, the one I’m most excited about…….Ice Cream For Bears! Regenerative, grass fed, and sweetened with ONLY raw honey. Only recently learned about it, so I haven’t tried it yet, but this is also at Fresh Thyme in Davenport!
