Are your horses ready for Winter?
With brutal snow and cold weather coming, it is especially important to add nutritional supplements to your horses' feeds. A few products, in particular, to support horse health and meet equine nutritional needs in the winter when pasture areas are limited or covered in snow are as follows:
H.E.S. (High Energy Supplement Pellets) - these pellets provide additional calories in the form of protein and fat, which is needed in winter months. This is a good calorie option rather than feeding additional grain or sweet feed, which can cause metabolic issues if overfed.
Free Choice Minerals - these should be placed in a covered area where horses can eat them at will. Horses confined in pastures that have deteriorated or are covered in snow because of winter cannot roam freely to find the plants that are growing in more phosphorus-rich areas or calcium-rich soils.
(Free choice products include NTM Salt, Izmine a carbon-based trace and micro-trace mineral complex; 1:1 Free Choice and 2:1 Free Choice both help horses naturally balance the calcium to phosphorus ratio which can be upset by the type of hay a horse is fed.)
Dynamite - our signature and namesake product is a state-of-the-art supplement that reflects decades of research and development, and is used by top trainers across the country. Dynamite is favored by trainers of race, endurance, event, dressage and other hard-working horses. It is excellent for horses with additional nutrient requirements, such as horses being exposed to severe winter weather, post-surgery recovery, and pregnant or nursing mares.
Dyna-Pro - a prebiotic that can help with winter grazing issues.
Excel helps stabilize the gut when unaccustomed things are consumed such as unwelcome weeds in baled hay.
Easy Balance provides chelated magnesium, chromium, organic cinnamon, and other natural ingredients to support thyroid and blood sugar balance.
OxE Mega provides Vitamin E and antioxidants which do not exist in dry winter grass and stored hay.
Let’s get ahead of the weather!
