Having a newborn is a huge adjustment. Even when everything is going “well,” it can still feel overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting. Many families don’t realize they can ask for help until they are already running on empty.

That’s where postpartum doulas come in.

Postpartum doulas provide practical, emotional, and compassionate support during the early weeks and months after birth. They support the whole family, not just the baby. From newborn care and feeding support to holding space for emotions, rest, and recovery, this work truly changes lives.

If you feel drawn to supporting new families, if you are a good listener, a nurturer, or someone who wants to make a meaningful impact during a vulnerable season, postpartum doula work might be calling you.

We are excited to be hosting BabyMatters for a Postpartum Doula Training at Motherhood Matters, March 13-15. This training is perfect for birth workers looking to expand their skill set, caregivers wanting to formalize their experience, or anyone feeling pulled toward this deeply important work.

Postpartum support matters. Families matter. And maybe this next step is meant for you.

Pregnancy and postpartum can bring a lot of discomfort, and that’s where Dr. Sara Rausch comes in. As a movement specialist, she loves helping mamas get to the root of common aches and pains like low back pain, hip discomfort, sciatica, and p***c symphysis issues. Through gentle adjustments, soft tissue work, simple exercises, posture support, and everyday ergonomic tweaks, her goal is to help bodies move with more ease and feel more supported during this season.

And y’all… she is AMAZING. Dr. Sara helps her patients feel truly heard and works to uncover the root cause of their pain points. Fair warning though, you might find out you’re breathing incorrectly or that your posture could use a little adjusting, but it’s all part of feeling better long-term.

People hear the words home birth and it can sometimes bring up a lot of anxiety. At Foundations Midwifery, families are met with calm, steady support from midwife Miranda Mendoza Velázquez. However, for many families, home birth is not something to fear, it’s actually quite beautiful. Imagine your baby taking their first breath in the comfort of your own home, and being able to recover in your own bed instead of a hospital room.

For low-risk pregnancies, a planned home birth with a trained, licensed midwife, such as Miranda, is a safe and well-researched option. Being in a familiar, calm environment can support the body’s natural rhythms and help reduce stress during both birth and recovery. Research also shows that planned home birth is associated with fewer medical interventions, including lower rates of instrumental birth and cesarean sections.

Recovering at home allows for more uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact, easier initiation of breastfeeding, and deeper early bonding, all while receiving attentive, personalized care, with clear safety protocols and a plan in place should a transfer ever be needed.
