The cemetery contains over 18600 burials including prominent city officials and businessmen.

Please ensure that all items are removed from grave sites prior to October 15. Our annual fall cleanup will commence on Wednesday, October 15th, and will include the removal of any remaining items.

Our Story

The cemetery contains over 18600 burials including prominent city officials and businessmen. The crematory was established in 1890, and was the first crematory in the State of Iowa and only the second one West of the Mississippi river. Today it is one of the 9th oldest crematories still in operation in Iowa.
