It's Music Monday again! 🎶 For the last couple weeks I've talked about how music increases all sorts of feel-good chemicals, and the previous songs had a hopeful message. This week, the song is about feeling like they've made progress in getting healthy, and then trauma pops back up. That's not exactly hopeful, but it is realistic. Healing is not a steady, constant incline. It's up and down.

Memories are stored in networks, and they are all activated by associations. So when we work on one and feel better, that's when another may pop up. But that's not regression, it's how you know you're doing the real work, not just surface level.

Every time I hear this song, I want to reach through the speaker and yell to him that his therapist was definitely telling the truth. Give it a listen and you'll know exactly which part I mean.

There aren't shortcuts, and the only way out is through. Therapy is about more than learning coping skills, it's about digging deep into the root of the issues and healing those parts. Turn this one up and remind yourself it's worth it.
