Q: Can midwives only attend home births⁉️
A: Not at all! In fact, most Certified Nurse Midwife attended births happen in hospitals. In 2022, 94% of CNM attended births took place in hospitals, with just 3% in freestanding birth centers and 3% in homes.

Midwives are often known for supporting low intervention births, and while most deliveries are uncomplicated, having the right level of care matters. At The Group, our midwives provide exceptional care at MercyOne Genesis Birth Center, where labor rooms offer a warm, home-like environment along with immediate access to advanced medical support should an unexpected need arise.

This scholarship is housed and administered by the Quad Cities Community Foundation and was established by The Group Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, P.C. to honor the memory of our beloved colleague, Dr. Anita L. Pinc. The scholarship is awarded to women attending an accredited medical school with the goal of becoming a medical doctor and the desire to practice within the Quad Cities region. This scholarship is awarded every two years.

Dr. Pinc was an advocate for many local charities and community organizations. She was especially passionate about and supportive of, women in medicine. It is because of this that we wanted to create a scholarship to encourage and support another’s passion and love for medicine. It is our sincere wish and hope that this scholarship will do just that, in Anita’s legacy. Education is the gift that lasts a lifetime, and we feel carrying her legacy forward to future generations of students is one meaningful way to honor her work, accomplishments, and loved ones.
