It’s true that when one door closes, another opens. Another way to put it is: leave the past in the past and stay present in the moment. What I’ve come to understand is that life is a thread of experiences—one leading to the next. When we allow ourselves to be in the moment, the becoming happens organically. No trying, no forcing—just allowing, and staying open to more.
This past week, I shared this wisdom with my 11-year-old. Sometimes we’re faced with decisions we know are right for us, yet they’re still hard to make. But when you begin to trust that good can come from any and every situation, you free yourself from the old concepts of right or wrong, good or bad, and the “what ifs” and “should haves.”
Allowing yourself to be vulnerable and authentic is bravery—not weakness or softness. It’s strength. It’s freedom. I couldn’t be more proud of my 11-year-old for not letting fear of the unknown stop them from being open to the unlimited possibilities they are now willingly stepping into.
We all have this tenacity within us—to choose to respond to life rather than react to the outside world and other people’s opinions or fears. Yoga helped me see that I could shape my life in any way I choose, and that this is what true freedom really is. With this knowing, I lead my classes with the intention of inspiring anyone who is ready to feel the true essence of how powerful they really are.
