The short answer is YES. The long answer is, not all pregnancies are the same—some are not viable. You might be having a miscarriage, a phenomenon where a fertilized egg is rejected by your body and expels the pregnancy naturally. Most women will experience a miscarriage in their life and they are usually non-life threatening. However, if a woman were to take abortion pills while miscarrying, she would experience hemorrhaging and a potentially life threatening situation. An ultrasound can detect miscarriage.

Another non-viable pregnancy is an ectopic pregnancy and it is life threatening. This condition is where the egg attaches outside of the uterus, and it will cause pain and bleeding. Abortion pills cannot remove this kind of pregnancy and can only make the condition more complicated. If you are experiencing pain and bleeding seek medical assistance immediately!

Always schedule a free ultrasound with your local MPRC before taking any abortion pill to make sure you are not at risk for potential risks. We can give you resources, abortion education, referrals, and support!

Did you know this? Many women know that once ovulation occurs, an egg is only fertile for 24 hours. But did you know that s***m can live in your body for 7 days? Which means you could actually get pregnant if you had intimacy before ovulation! One way to track ovulation is using a period app and using ovulation tests, which can be purchased next to the pregnancy tests at your local pharmacy. And remember, even when using birth control, there is always a 1% chance of pregnancy.

Just a friendly reminder to ask before you shop! Many big name pharmacies are offering to hand out abortion pills, which we know to be extremely dangerous if a woman has not had any preliminary screenings and is not being supervised by a doctor. This isn't helping women it's ultimately very harmful. Shopping smarter is a practical way to make a big impact. Look into local, private pharmacies in your area for a better alternative!
