Think Pilates is just about stretching? Think again.
When used intentionally, Pilates-inspired movements can build deep core strength, support spinal alignment, and retrain your breath to work with your body—not against it.
Here are 3 MTI-approved pilates-inspired rehab moves you can do from the comfort of your very own home!
1️⃣ Bird dog (quadruped arm and leg reach)
A deceptively simple exercise that challenges your ability to stabilize your spine while moving your limbs. It strengthens the deep core and teaches control without gripping.
2️⃣ Modified side plank
Targets your obliques and hip stabilizers—key muscles that protect your spine and pelvis, especially postpartum or during rehab from low back pain.
3️⃣ Bridge with a march
Helps rewire your body’s ability to stabilize through the hips and spine while adding single-leg movement. It builds control, not just strength, and enhances your body’s ability to stay aligned and balanced under pressure.
These are foundational, effective, and accessible at nearly any level—whether you’re recovering from injury, rebuilding after a baby, or just looking to move with more intention.
