I was chatting yesterday with a man who's considering joining the HeartScapes Reiki Academy's 9-Month Program. He feels drawn to it, and also, as Nadine expressed above, a bit daunted by the time commitment. He asked why I decided to teach Reiki in such an extensive format.

As as an educator for two decades in a wide range of contexts and subjects--from leadership development to spiritual practice--this was an easy question to answer. I made the shift from teaching Reiki classes in a one-off weekend intensive format to the 9-month program in order to:

**Hold a container that is both firm enough to support a comprehensive Reiki education, and flexible and spacious enough to respond and adjust to the needs and goals of participants;

**Give space to acknowledge and incorporate real-time events and situations happening out in the world that impact our student community;

Empowered Childbirth with Reiki:
This month I've added an exciting new course to our self-study class catalog, HeartScapes Hearth. Drawing practices from the system of Reiki, this class is for those who are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, who seek pathways of empowerment, connection and embodiment inside of your pregnancy, birthing and parenting journey. It is also for birth workers and support folks who want to deepen their birth support toolkit.

This month, Michaela will lead us through some moving meditation, and share insights from her work with Norma Wong on the application of moving meditation to social change movements--whether through formal organizations our many informal communities and networks.
