📢 Telehealth update: we finally have some breathing room.
After months of uncertainty and short-term patches, Medicare telehealth flexibilities just received a longer runway.
The United States House of Representatives has passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026, extending many of the virtual care policies providers and patients rely on every day.
What this means for your practice
🗓️ Most flexibilities continue through December 31, 2027
You can still:
• Treat patients in their homes
• Provide audio-only services when video isn’t available
• Bill telehealth with PTs, OTs, SLPs, and audiologists
• Delay the in-person requirement for telemental health until 2028
The bigger picture
Telehealth isn’t “temporary” anymore — it’s becoming standard care delivery.
But extensions don’t eliminate risk.
Now is the perfect time to:
✔ Review compliance
✔ Update internal policies
✔ Check payer rules
✔ Tighten documentation and coding
