University of California, Davis Athletics is seeking 2 highly motivated, dedicated professionals for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our sports medicine team. One position is newly created and the second is due to the retirement of a long-time staff member. Sport assignments will be Women’s Soccer/Beach Volleyball and Men’s Water Polo/Women’s Lacrosse. We have a dynamic, well-rounded staff of 14 ATC’s, who are committed to personal and professional growth/development, as well as 3 on site physicians, sport psychologist, dietician, and insurance coordinator. We have 25 athletic teams approximately 650 student athletes who compete predominantly in the Big West conference with Lacrosse joining the Big 12 next year.
Budgeted salary for the positions is $65-72K commensurate with education and experience. The position application closes on 5/2/24.

Lisa Varnum is retiring from Athletic Training and UC Davis!
Please join us in congratulating Lisa on 37 years at UC Davis. She began her career as a part-time Employee, coaching the UCD Divers and part-time Athletic Trainer. She transitioned to full-time as an Athletic Trainer at UC Davis and has touched so many lives over the years. We will be celebrating Lisa and her long career on June 1st. Hi everyone! The time has finally come for Lisa to retire. I have been in the athletic training room for 35 years and am ready to move on to some rest and relaxation (along with yard work, woodworking, BBQ'ing and a cold adult beverage occassionally)! THANK YOU!! We wanted to send a big thank you out to all who donated for GiveDay! We really appreciate the generosity and giving back to the program and our students. Numbers are still coming in but we think we are close to $5,000. Amazing!

On to the next hurdle!

AB 796 has successfully made it through the Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism! We are so excited to have gained the momentum that we currently have with moving this important bill forward; it's largely due to the support from our membership, peers, and community stakeholders! Thank you to those that have written letters, posted and shared on social media, and have reached out to ask about how else to help get AB 796 passed.

There is still work to be done! If you have not already done so, please visit www.ca-at.org for instructions on how to submit your letter of support. We are adding more templates for you to share with others who are interested in joining our letter writing campaign. The sports medicine team consists of 3 employed physicians with, 14 certified athletic trainers covering 25 intercollegiate teams.
