We need your help!

Joshua’s House has a patient that needs their two senior dogs, Lola (age 12) and Pooper (age 17), fostered and rehomed. We are hoping to find a loving home for this father and daughter duo, so they can live out their final days in the same peaceful and loving care as their previous caretaker.

Please share this with anyone who could possibly help with taking care of these dogs!

Last weekend at Peer2Peer, some of the youth in the group created beautiful tile coasters that were inspired by their special person in their life! 🎨

We talked about change, and things that stay the same after someone significant in their life dies or is diagnosed with an advanced serious illness. One thing that never changes is the lessons their special person taught them, and the love that they have for them. 💙

Our hearts are full after hosting this year’s YoloCares for Kids Holiday Party. 💛

Instead of our regular Peer2Peer grief support group for kids and teens, we brought everyone together for a special night of connection, comfort, and holiday fun.

Families enjoyed breakfast for dinner, spent time with All About a Farm’s petting zoo, played inside a magical winter bubble dome, watched our balloon artist twist creations for the kids 🎈, and made meaningful memory ornaments and memory jars to honor their loved ones.

Seeing the kids laugh, watching families support one another, and creating moments of joy in the middle of grief is exactly why we do this work.

Thank you to every family who joined us, and to our wonderful team, volunteers, and partners who help make nights like this possible. The holidays can be especially hard while grieving, but no one in our community has to go through them alone. ❤️

The month of November is Children's Grief Awareness Month.

Children grieve differently than adults. Their feelings come through play, creativity, and quiet moments. What they need to most is to be seen, heard, and to know they are not alone.

💙Some ways to participate and show support
💙Wear the color blue on November 20th
💙Reach out to someone who may be grieving and listen, do not try to fix them
💙Light a candle for a loved one or share a special memory of them
💙Share this post to let others know about YoloCares for Kids as a resource for children's grief

Our Story

As the first established independent hospice in the Sacramento Valley, Yolo Hospice has the longest regional track record as experts in caring for people who have a life-limiting illness. We are a non-profit, community-based hospice. We were founded in 1979 by a group of local volunteers who wanted to offer a different kind of care to their community. That spirit is still at the heart of Yolo Hospice today.

We provide comfort and restore peace to the lives of our patients. We focus on easing pain, controlling symptoms and reducing the effects of illness so you can focus on living. We also know that every individual has unique needs, wishes and hopes. Your goals become our goals. We'll shape our care to honor and support what matters to you most. Together, we'll help you regain control and feel empowered. Each day is about your choice to live fully.
