WHAT'S GOING AROUND?— Each week, we ask our ER physicians what ailments and conditions are commonly being seen in our Emergency Room.
THIS WEEK, Dr. Glenn DeLong, an emergency physician with McLaren, reports:
Influenza
After a slow start to the traditional flu season, patients testing positive for influenza A and B have begun to trend, with the most patients experiencing symptoms of headache, congestion, drainage, and fatigue.
COVID-19
There has also been an uptick in positive tests for COVID-19. Though with the vast majority of patients experiencing minor symptoms, doctors still encourage those with similar symptoms to take steps to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Slip and falls
Injuries resulting from slip and falls caused by wintery conditions continue to be the most common reason patients are seeking care in the emergency and trauma center.
