KARE for Kids is bringing you the 39th annual Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19th.

This year's event will be held at Rock Creek Park. Activities start at 11AM; egg hunt starts at 1PM.

If you're only coming for the egg hunt portion of the event, be sure to arrive early enough to find a parking spot and to get to the egg hunt area. The eggs go fast! Showing up at 1PM will result in some very disappointed kids.

🚧 Night Work Alert: Pedestrian Upgrades Coming to Downtown Dawson County 🚧

Starting Monday, March 17, GDOT began a 6-week project to improve pedestrian safety around the historic courthouse at SR 53 & SR 9 in Dawson County.

Work will include:

✅ New sidewalks
✅ Concrete medians
✅ Flashing pedestrian beacons
✅ Road resurfacing
✅ Truck apron installation

📆 All work will take place at night to reduce daytime traffic impact, especially around local schools.

📢 Stay safe and alert when driving through the area at night!

Because our office handles a number of livestock cases, we wanted to share some information about Avian Influenza/H5N1. This information is accurate as of 1/3/24 and we will watch for updates as they are available.

The virus is spread through f***s, saliva, mucus, and other bodily fluids, so contact with sick or deceased animals should be limited or avoided when possible.

Domestic cats are very susceptible to Avian Influenza. They can contract the virus by eating or being in contact with sick wild or domestic birds, or by consuming raw milk, eggs, or meat. It is recommended to avoid all of these potential risks, including commercially prepared raw or freeze dried raw foods until more testing is available.

It is not recommended for humans to consume raw milk, eggs, or meat either.
