Reflexology is not only a science but also an art. It is a science, because it is based on physiological and neurological study. It is an art, because much depends on how skillfully the practitioner applies his knowledge and the dynamics which occur between the practitioner and the client. What is Reflexology?
The ARCB defines it as: A protocol of manual techniques, such as thumb and finger-walking, hook and back up and rotating-on-a-point, applied to specific reflex areas predominantly on the feet and hands.
But what does this mean?
These techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body's efforts to function optimally.
It does this by reducing stress, increasing circulation, assisting detoxification and finally, by bringing the body into homeostasis, or balance.

The feet are truly an amazing part of the body, effortlessly performing their many functions, but often given little thought or attention. These incredible structures, each consisting of 26 bones, (a quarter of all the bones in the entire body), 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 20 muscles, 125,000 sweat glands and over 7,000 nerve endings***, allow us to stand, walk, run, jump and maneuver our way through our day. Yet we rarely even touch them, managing to put on our shoes and socks without really coming into contact with them.
