April is Cesarean Section Awareness month. As PT’s, we consistently advocate for parents to prepare for birth and it’s unpredictable twists- as well as return to PT once cleared by their MD post birth. Parents who have birthed via c-section: this means you, too! Why is it important and what can we do to help?
〰️ Some persons find they have painful s/e/x postpartum regardless of method of birth (we treat this and it’s root causes)
〰️ It is crucial to pair diaphragmatic breath with pelvic floor contraction and TA engagement for core control
〰️ In phases of scar healing, we can teach you scar release/make adaptive changes to scar tissue easiest during initial stages of healing
〰️ Say no to the shelf or apron! (IYKYK) ⭆⭆⭆ yes, we can help and it’s not about weight loss
〰️ Education on hormones, body changes, progression
〰️ Scars can be adapted many, many years post so you’re not too late
〰️ Scar tissue & restrictions can prevent Diastasis Recti from fully healing
Our DPTs are so highly skilled, we can use various techniques at the muscles of the abdomen, the myofascial bundles along the c section scar (whether this is a new scar or a very old scar!), such as the dry needling you see Dr. Jana performing here. Call us to be seen at one of our 4 locations! (410) 601- 3991.
