Meet Sharon AKA “Mama Sharon”!
Sharon is a beloved nurse, educator, and community activist whose care extends far beyond the bedside. She is the newly appointed Director of the Doula Initiative and Co-Director of the Health Activation Think Tank at the University of Dayton’s Fitz Center for Leadership in Community. Her journey — from clinical nursing to “nursing communities” — reflects a deep commitment to equity, healing, and systemic change. At SNB, Sharon brings heart, strategy, and decades of experience that help guide our work in powerful ways.

Yes, a new baby is exciting.
But can we not forget the woman who gave up her body, her comfort, her whole self to bring that baby here?

She’s new too.
Not just a mom now... but a version of herself she’s never met before. Every single time.

So when you visit, don’t just say “I came to see the baby.”
That baby is already getting every cuddle in the world.
Mama needs to be seen, too.
She needs to be asked, “How are you really doing?”
She needs to be held.

Because while she’s pouring herself into caring for a new life.. she’s also trying to learn how to care for the new version of herself.
