✨ 2025 Birth Reflections ✨

2025 was a very unique year. Although many births went smoothe, some were anything but. Some of these families endured very very hard things to meet their baby and some are still going through very hard things weeks-months later.

Anna and Krissy began supporting alongside each other this year and we have seen so much good come from the partnership!

Anna drove 5 hours for a birth this year and Krissy drove 4 hours for a birth.

Krissy missed a quick-progressing vaginal birth by about 5 minutes while waddling up to the hospital entrance after an intense leg workout. (This was enough for her to skip leg day for the rest of the year 😅)

Anna sat in her car for 1.5 hours waiting and ready to support a client laboring at the hospital, who was not actually at the hospital at the time. (Oopsies! But what a labor of love to patiently wait for the mama to need her. 🥹)

We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings! The babies are already starting to make their appearance and the books are filling up. There is so much to be thankful for! 🤍

📢 Please Read! 📢

The time has come, friends. Tomorrow is the 5th birthday of my very first doula client’s baby. 🥹 I have the honor of watching this baby grow up because her parents are friends of ours! In these 5 years, I have come to meet some truly incredible people who have welcomed me into their birth and allowed me to walk beside them. It has been one of my life’s greatest honors. Now, it is time for me to step in a new direction. Don’t worry, I will not be far!

What does this mean for you? For all of my current clients who are pregnant, nothing. We will continue as discussed! For all of my clients who I have had the pleasure of supporting in the past, I will no longer be available for future babies in a doula role. I do highly recommend and encourage everyone to hire Anna! She is wonderful and an amazing support person who has supported medicated hospital birth, unmedicated hospital birth, ceserean birth, and homebirth. She will be taking over Mindful Maternity in the coming months as I begin to transition away from doula work.

What does that mean for me? Although I will not be available for doula services, I will be available for midwifery services! I will be supporting my last birth as a doula in July/August of 2026 and will soon after sit for the NARM exam, which will certify me as a professional midwife! I will be offering homebirth midwifery care in the Dayton area once I have passed this exam. (More details on this to come 💕)

This is bittersweet, but a really necessary decision in my current season of birth work. I hope I will get to walk beside some of you again in this new role. 🫶

This weekend I spent two days working through increasing my knowledge and skill in both birth emergencies and also suturing. It was both soul-filling and also practically one of the most helpful classes I’ve taken as a student midwife.

Is phenomenal at creating a safe space to learn and grow. Their skilled hands are impacting families everywhere by pouring into us in our own communities. I am so grateful I had this opportunity to learn from both them and also other midwives and birth workers.

✨TENS Unit Machines✨

What are tens units? Tens stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Tens unit machines send a small electric current to a targeted area of the body to help reduce and manage pain.

Tens units can be immensely helpful in managing early labor during rest periods, or labors that have more back pain than usual.

Tens units are becoming more popular for labor management and some insurance companies will even cover the cost! We as doulas own and carry tens units specifically designed for labor and birth, but we can also show you how to get one of your own too!
