After years of struggling with alcohol, op**tes, and kratom, I ended up in jail and didn’t even know how I got there. When DeCoach came and gave me a chance to come to Spring Valley House, I finally had the opportunity to focus on myself for the first time. Being surrounded by people who understand what I’m going through, along with the support of the counselors and staff, has changed my life in ways I can’t even explain. I came to DeCoach when my life was falling apart and alcohol had taken everything from me, including my kids. What I found here was help without judgment, guidance without shame, and the reminder that I’m not alone and I’m not different from anyone else fighting this disease. The most meaningful part of living at DeCoach for me was feeling welcomed and not out of place. Everyone here has been through something similar, and you can feel that genuine care when you talk to them. After years of feeling like nobody cared, this environment helped me open up, learn about my disease, and finally feel supported.
Because of DeCoach, I’m able to show up as myself sober, clear-headed, and healing. I can honestly say today that I don’t need alcohol anymore.

On June 23rd, 2025, I was arrested and spent 72 days in Warren County Jail. I walked out with nothing but the clothes I came in with, until DeCoach stepped in. They picked me up, brought me to their Hamilton office, and gave me a chance to rebuild instead of giving up.
Because of DeCoach, I have real hope again. I’ve gained confidence, tools, and a future I actually believe in. I’m ready to live differently now, and I’m grateful I don’t have to do it alone.

Because of DeCoach, I found more than treatment... I found a place where people actually understand what I’ve been through and walk with me through every stage of recovery. When I came here, I was struggling and unsure if I could stay sober, but the structure, routines, and support helped me feel safe, build trust in myself again, and reconnect with the people I love.
Being surrounded by staff and peers who have lived experience made me feel understood, not judged, and helped me create a sense of community I never had before. Here, I learned I’m not a lost cause I have strength, purpose, and the tools I need to stay clean, grow, and even support others.

Because of DeCoach, I was able to chase my desire to live sober, reconnect with my daughter and grandchildren, and rebuild what addiction tried to take. While living here, I learned just how much family truly means.
Not only the one waiting for me at home, but the one we’ve created in this house. We have good days and bad days, but we show up for each other. This place has given me safety, comfort, nurturing support, and, most importantly, my sobriety and my life back.

Because of DeCoach, I didn’t have to withdraw alone. After getting sick in the hospital while trying to come off fentanyl on my own, I asked for help and was directed here. Where I found a safe environment, a supportive community, and staff who truly understand because they’ve been in my shoes.
Surrounded by people going through the same fight and guided by those who know recovery firsthand, I finally feel empathy, connection, and hope instead of fear and isolation.
