Then these tips are for you:

โœ… Let go of the perfectionism.

๐Ÿ•‰If you don't have the time for a perfect 30 or a 60 min workout, it's ok. Do what you can. Even shorter sessions are highly beneficial. ๐Ÿƒ

โœ… If you say "I am busy" or "I don't have the time", you are blocking your mind.

๐Ÿ•‰Start saying: "I will find time for a 10 min workout" Just this thought will open up new possibilities for you. ๐Ÿ•˜

โœ… Affirm the importance of exercise/yoga in keeping the body healthy. Make it a priority. You don't have to loose your strength and freedom of movement as you age. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ™

What you think about your pain is important. Thoughts are very powerful. If you don't believe me, try an experiment yourself.

Every day, repeat the following statements multiple times a day. As often as you can. Slowly they will seap into your subconscious mind and change your thinking pattern.

๐ŸŒผSay this:
๐Ÿ•‰ My body is getting healthier every day! ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

Instead of saying:
It hurts to walk. My neck hurts every day. โŒ

๐ŸŒผSay this:
๐Ÿ•‰ My body is getting stronger and more flexible every day. I am taking steps to improve my strength and flexibility. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšด

Instead of saying:
My muscles are weak. My back/neck back is stiff. โŒ

It takes time to change thoughts. Do not finish the negative statement. You can reverse the course and focus on positive statement.

Try this for one week and let me know how you feel.

1. Parighasana: Helps improve mobility and stability of hips and pelvis as well as improves flexibility of the spine and shoulders.

2. Seal Pose: Improves extension of the spine to help improve posture and enhances shoulder stability.

Flexibility of your spine and hips is crucial for healthy neck and shoulders. If you have restrictions in this area, your body is compensating daily for it and it might lead to more pain.

1. Side bend in seated position: Improves flexibility of hips, spine and shoulder.
2. Sphinx pose: Improves extension of the spine for better posture, improves shoulder stability
3. Plank pose: improves core strength and shoulder stablity.

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธPractice poses that inlcude multiple joints. We rarely use one joint or one muscle at a time. The whole body functions as one unit so train your body that way. Don't isolate muscles to body parts. Treat the whole body. ๐Ÿ•‰๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ™

Tips for Healthy neck and shoulders:

๐ŸŒผ If you have neck and shoulder pain, work on your core and hip mobility as well.

๐ŸŒผ Your core and hips are the foundation on which the upper body is supported.

๐ŸŒผ If you have stiffness in your hips from sitting for long hours at work or have reduced mobility of your spine, it is going to affect your neck and shoulder pain.

How do you treat chronic pain?

๐ŸŒบExercise:
Muscle imbalances can lead to chronic pain. Exercise regularly to strengthen weak muscles
๐ŸŒบStretch:
Tight muscles can lead to poor alignment of your joints. Flexible and strong muscles will support your joints better
๐ŸŒบRelax:
Practice relaxation techniques. Give your muscles a chance to relax and let go. Reduction in muscle tension will help reducing chronic pain
๐ŸŒบSleep:
Get good sleep at night. Good sleep can help repair minor tears in muscles and help the body heal
๐ŸŒบNutrition:
Eat wholesome and nutritious food. Certain foods can increase inflammation in the body and worsen your pain
๐ŸŒบStress management:
When you are stressed, anxious or overwhelmed, you might experience increase in your symptoms. So learn to manage your stress effectively.

Chronic pain is a complex issue. We feel it at physical level but it's roots can be traced deeper in our energy (prana) body as well as mental body. If we want a long term solution, then we need to address it at all these levels.

I love working 1:1 with my clients to help them reach their health goals. We all have unique bodies with unique problems. When working with clients in a private session, I can take a closer look at these problems. It helps me individualize the session for each client.

What's the difference between regular yoga and restorative yoga?๐Ÿค”

๐ŸŒผ In regular yoga, poses are held for few seconds or few minutes (1-2 min)
In restorative yoga, poses are held longer (for 5-10 minutes or even longer) with support from blanket and pillows

๐ŸŒผ In regular yoga, focus on improving flexibility and strength as well as relaxation.
In restorative yoga, main focus is on relaxation
