A Call to Action During Human Trafficking Prevention Month
At CARE House, Montgomery County’s Child Advocacy Center, we stand alongside communities nationwide to recognize January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month—a vital time to confront the harrowing reality of modern-day slavery and recommit to protecting the most vulnerable among us. On January 11th, Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we honor survivors, uplift their voices, and intensify our efforts to end exploitation. Globally, 27.6 million people—including countless children, who are tragically targeted by predators—are trapped in forced labor and trafficking. As your local advocate for child safety, we believe prevention begins with awareness, education, and united community action.
At CARE House, we partner with educators, youth, families, and organizations to empower our community with tools to recognize trafficking signs and address vulnerabilities that exploiters prey upon. Through collaborations like the Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, we equip Montgomery County residents with resources to report suspicious activities and support survivors. Prevention is not just a national or global mission—it starts here, in our homes and schools. This month, we invite you to join us in offering educational outreach to local schools and community groups. Allow us to provide training on identifying risks, safeguarding children, and building a community where exploitation has no place.
This January, take action with us. Visit https://acf.gov/otip/htpm page to access resources, engage in awareness campaigns, and learn how to respond. No child should face exploitation alone. Together, we can ensure every child’s right to safety, freedom, and hope. At CARE House, we believe no child should be left in the shadows.
