Are you paying attention to your feet when you flow? 👣
Our feet are our foundation whether we are standing, walking, running, or doing yoga! Many of us naturally place a great deal of attention on our feet in standing poses, searching for samastithi (equal standing) by adjusting our weight and foot placement.
As we move through our practice, however, our feet might start to drift further into the unnoticed.
It’s important to regularly call our attention back to our feet because even when they are not on the ground, they still affect the foundation of our practice!
A flexed foot vs a pointed foot can support and transform different postures, such as chair and warrior (flexed foot) or crow and handstand (pointed foot).
Flexing your feet can be an especially important action any time the knee extends beyond the ankle while pointing your feet can help draw our energy up and away from the ground (and increase the curvature of the lower back!
