Veterans in the Low Vision Clinic enjoyed a holiday meal together on Friday. It was for their monthly support group and included their family members. They dined on brisket, turkey, potatoes, slaw, baked beans, apple pie and more. The group gets together twice a year for a luncheon. Money from a national grant pays for the luncheon.

Seven quilters donated 60 quilts to our hospice unit today. They are with the quilting ministry at David’s United Church of Christ in Kettering. They’ve been making quilts for our Veterans since 2015 and we can’t thank them enough. The ladies say every Veteran should have a quilt to let them know they are appreciated for their service. To date, they’ve donated 793 quilts.

Chief of Staff Dr. Lora Cox-Vance and dozens of others braved the cold weather to take part in a Veterans Day ceremony in Huber Heights. She was the guest speaker and thanked Veterans for their service and sacrifice. She also thanked their family members and said they also make sacrifices. The event is put on by the Huber Heights Military and Veterans Commission.

A huge thank you to Gala of Hope for its generous donation of 100 comfort boxes on Veterans Day! These boxes are for Veterans undergoing cancer treatment to bring them some support. Inside the boxes are blankets, hygiene items, non-perishable foods, activity books and a grocery store gift card. Acting Medical Center Director Brian Hays and Acting Assistant Director Gregory Norton were there to receive the boxes and express their gratitude.

The Dayton VA Medical Center and our clinics will be closed for the Veterans Day federal holiday this upcoming Tuesday, November 11th. Our Emergency Department and inpatient missions will remain open. We will resume normal operations on Wednesday, November 12th.

It's a great morning for a parade! Come join us on the Dayton VA campus for the 4th annual Veterans Day Parade. It starts at 11:00 a.m. with a flyover. Get here a little early. Plenty of parking. We hope you come out and salute Veterans for all they've done for our country. We will be LIVE on Facebook for those who can't come.
