Heart failure is a major national health challenge. It remains the only cardiovascular disease that continues to rise, and it's the number one cause of hospitalization in adults over 65.

During Heart Month, we're highlighting our Heart Failure Empowerment Program designed for our home health patients. We help patients understand their disease, recognize early warning signs and adopt heart-healthy habits. A structured home health approach can help loved ones who are living with heart failure remain stable and out of the hospital.

Many families wonder what happens if they choose hospice and later feel it’s not the right fit. In hospice care, patient choice is always protected — including the right to stop care at any time, for any reason, even after services have begun.

Our latest blog explains how hospice eligibility, recertification and patient choice work, and what it looks like to discontinue or resume hospice if your goals or needs change.

Sometimes, the support you need most is the kind that comes right to your home. We’re honored to stand with patients and families when they need us most, delivering care that truly exceeds expectations.

02/17/2026

Sometimes it takes slowing down and sitting beside someone to remember what truly matters.

That’s what many of our hospice volunteers discover at Amedisys — the quiet, meaningful moments that bring purpose back into focus.

One of our volunteers recently shared how this experience has changed their life for the better, offering connection, gratitude, and a deeper appreciation for each day. Their story is a beautiful reminder that giving your time can be one of the most powerful gifts.

Spotlight of the Month: Adam Griffith, PT. Adam started in the Physical Therapy world 9 years ago. He has been with Amedisys Home Health here at the Dayton Care Center for 7 of those years. Adam is originally from Wartburg, TN, and moved to this area when he started college for PT school. He lives here with his wife, Meghan, 3 beautiful children, Audry, Jack, Evelyn, and their dog Finley. Adam is most proud to be a father to those 3 good kids (so far, in his words). His biggest goal in life is to Do Justice, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly (Micah 6:8). Adam's grandmother, who helped anyone who needed it, inspired him to join the field he is in. Driving with his car windows down in nice weather is what he likes most about his job, being in the Home Health industry. When you ask his co-workers to describe Adam, they unanimously say he is extremely patient and caring, Efficient, very knowledgeable, and explains to his patients in a very easy way that they understand what needs to be done to get better, and most of all, he is a Great Father. Outside of work, he and his family enjoy swimming in the pool and hanging out with family.

Spotlight of the Month: Amanda Smith, PTA. Amanda was born and raised in Birchwood/Harrison, TN, where she currently resides with her Husband, BJ, son, Owen Wade, along with 2 dogs, Stroker Ace and Stella, 2 Cats, Casper and Matilda, and 7 Chickens. One of Amanda's life goals was to choose the right profession, and that she did. She has been a PTA for 18 years, and has been with our company, Amedisys Home Health, for 15 of those years, this coming October. Her grandfather is the one who inspired her to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. When asked what she likes most about your job, Amanda would say she loves the one-on-one time with patients and the flexibility Home Health offers her, especially when it comes to being able to spend time with her son and his ball games. One of Amanda's other life goals is to live with a purpose, and it shows in everything she does. In Amanda's off time from work, she enjoys swimming, bowling, and karaoke. If you ask anyone of Amanda's coworkers, they best describe her as caring, dedicated, honest, a great genuine personality.
