I recently facilitated a creative wellness workshop in western New York where we played with the co-creation of music and mandalas!

In my workshop at The Great Rhythm Revival 2025 Music, Marks and Mandalas, we worked together in small groups creating music with specific instruments while supporting the co-creation of mandalas with paint markers! It was a great way to practice supporting each other and feeling supported while playing and creating together. There were no wrong sounds or marks!

Participant reflections:

“I wasn’t sure our group could make this work since we didn’t know each other. But we ended up laughing all the way through the experience and it was fun!”

“I had so much fun!”

“At first, I thought our group was given all the “bad instruments” and then I realized each table had different instruments groupings intentionally. I had fun and we laughed the whole time!”

Each group developed their own rhythms and way of doing things that flowed for them. Each group created an amazing mandala as they increased their collective and individual capacity for stress tolerance and calmed their nervous systems! At the end the whole class joined together to create a "class mandala"!
