I was honored to present my workshop Roots and Trees: A Creative Expression of How We Stand Tall, Stabilize, and Grow Through Self-care and Connections with Others at Trinity Presbyterian Church’s winter retreat.
The purpose was to help people who feel down, overwhelmed, stressed, disconnected, and triggered feel hope, rejuvenation, and connection to others.
In my workshop participants engaged in movement to meditative drumming and silence in my tree embodiment freeze dance.
We reflected on connections to self and others through expressive mark making of trees and roots in line, shape, and color.
Participants were invited to create a written response and share any thoughts.
The session concluded with a collaborative painting of how a grove of trees stand tall and strong while being connected and supported through a system roots.
