We provide a free ambulance service to those living in the UD community. Feel free to stop by the EMS house and check out the ambulance or chat with the crew.

University of Dayton Emergency Medical Services is a state certified Basic Life Support ambulance. Approximately 60 undergraduate students at the University of Dayton serve the UD community 24/7. This past week, UD EMS proudly celebrated National Collegiate EMS Week 2025! 🚑💙 We had an amazing time and stayed busy with a variety of activities and events across campus.
We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the UD community in such a meaningful way. We are proud of each of our EMTs, who embody our mission of “Students Helping Students” through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to this organization!

Yesterday afternoon, our On-Duty Crew got to spend the afternoon with College Mentors for Kids! We had so much fun teaching the kids about EMS, answering their questions, sharing some cool photos, and surprising them with an ambulance tour 🚑✨ Huge thanks to the amazing coordinators of who helped make this event happen!

On Sunday, September 7th, UD EMS hosted the 19th Annual Lesley E. Smith Memorial 5K in honor of Lesley Smith — a beloved former UD EMS member who passed away in 2008 due to epilepsy complications. 💜

We are incredibly grateful for another successful event that not only brought our community together but also raised nearly $2,500 for The Epilepsy Foundation and helped raise awareness about epilepsy.

A heartfelt thank you to the 91 participants(‼️), as well as those who donated or supported from afar. Special thanks to Lesley’s parents for joining us in the walk, for his thoughtful words before the race, and Chief Durian with for showing his continued support.
We’re also deeply appreciative of our 18 generous sponsors, who provided donations, raffle prizes, and food for participants — your support made this event possible!

Welcome back to campus, Flyers!! We’re so excited to see everyone as the school year begins. Over the past week, our EMTs have been busy with a variety of trainings, continuing education lectures, MCI simulated events, and other team bonding activities to get ready for the year ahead.

We officially went back in service on Friday, 8/22 at 6 PM, and we’re here and ready to support the UD community. 🚑

Our Story

University of Dayton EMS (UD EMS), formerly known as UD Rescue Squad, is located on the University of Dayton's Campus in Dayton, Ohio. Founded in 1992, we are a 100% student run volunteer Emergency Medical Services organization composed of undergraduate UD students. We provide pre-hospital care and transportation for all medical and trauma emergencies on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year.
