During the Holidays is when many family members learn of a loved one who may be hiding hearing loss. Prior to a diagnosis, those with hearing loss may be embarrassed to admit that they are having trouble hearing.
It is important for you as the family member or friend that you guide them towards ownership of their hearing loss as well as, guide them towards finding out how a Hearing Healthcare Professional can help.
Age related changes in hearing, called presbycusis can cause a combination of poor hearing and speech understanding.
After a Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation, a licensed Audiologist will make suggestions according to the patient's degree of loss and lifestyle. It is highly encouraged that you accompany the patient to his or her appointments. They will need time to adjust to wearing the hearing aids every day. The added support of family and friends will greatly increase a successful journey towards better hearing.

Did you know...?....even though you may only need one hearing aid, you actually benefit the most from two hearing aids.?
Research shows that speech is much easier to understand when hearing aids are worn in both ears. Wearing two hearing aids can increase your awareness of the world around you. The ability to know where a sound is coming from depends on hearing with both ears. An everyday example might be turning in the correct direction when you hear your name called.
Two hearing aids more accurately represent the way things are meant to sound. For instance, when music, television and peoples' voices are heard with two ears, we enjoy a much better sound quality. A single hearing aid may require the volume to be turned up. But, two hearing aids let you listen and hear at normal volumes, which minimizes sound distortion.
Patient satisfaction is much higher for people benefiting from binaural hearing aids, versus just one.
